Kevin Stout was born and raised in Ashland, Oregon and has been practicing immigration, business, and landlord-tenant law in Southern Oregon for over 10 years. As a former public interest attorney, Kevin brings compassion and knowledge to every client matter. Kevin remains committed to public service and has volunteered in outreach and education efforts to facilitate collaboration between law enforcement and the immigrant community. 

Kevin has lived abroad in Granada, Spain, and has traveled through Central and South America. Outside of work, Kevin spends as much time as possible outdoors where he enjoys camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Michael Stout joined Stout Law in 2018 after moving with his family back to his hometown of Ashland, Oregon. Michael graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law at the top of his class and worked for three years at the international law firm Perkins Coie LLP in its Portland office, where he specialized in business law and counseled clients ranging from early startups to large publicly traded companies. Michael’s previous work focused on complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions, real estate, debt and equity financings, venture capital, and private equity investments.

Prior to returning home to Oregon to attend law school, Michael served for two years in the Peace Corps in rural Ecuador where he worked with local farmers to construct irrigation systems and develop sustainable organic coffee farming practices.

John Almaguer is the son of Mexican immigrants and has focused exclusively on US Immigration and Naturalization law for over 22 years. John enjoys being able to see immigration, from the trenches and from the ivory tower. He presents on a variety of immigration related topics to attorneys, local law enforcement agencies, health and education professionals, and community organizations. By practicing and presenting immigration law John strives towards a holistic approach to his life’s work and passion. In 2020, the Center for Nonprofit Legal Services awarded John the William V. Deatherage Pro Bono award recognizing him as a member of the Southern Oregon Bar whose work provides outstanding access to justice for residents of Jackson and Josephine Counties.

Outside of work, John loves to spend time with his family, watch films, listen to his vinyl records, and collect first editions of modern American literature specializing in the works of John Steinbeck.

Carlyle Stout, Retired

Carlyle Stout, Retired

Carlyle Stout, now retired, practiced law in Southern Oregon for over 35 years. He was a member of the Oregon State Bar Real Estate and Land Use Committee and was a board member and former president of the Southern Oregon Rental Owners Association.

Carlyle earned his law degree from the University of Oregon and his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prior to law school, he and his wife, Barbara, served in the Peace Corps for two years in Guatemala. Carlyle and Barbara live in Ashland and have four adult children and five grandchildren.
